Guidelines for post-filler procedure care.
- You can wash your face, but refrain from applying cream for one night. The next morning, you can apply makeup and cream as usual.
- It is recommended to blow-dry your hair from the back, or use a cool setting, and avoid washing your face with warm water for 2 weeks.
- Avoid vitamins, alcohol, and fermented foods for 2 weeks before and after the injection to reduce the chance of re-swelling and potential inflammation or infection. Seafood is only allowed if it has been thoroughly cooked.
- Drink plenty of water, 2 to 3 liters per day. This will help the filler swell and last longer.
- Avoid pressing, massaging, or rubbing the injection site to prevent filler migration. For the first 3-5 nights, it is recommended to sleep with your head elevated on a pillow, which can help reduce swelling and promote better absorption of the anesthetic.
- Avoid procedures that involve heat on the face for at least one month.
General instructions after filler injection.
- 🩹 Sterile Strip (Wound Dressing) Keep the wound dressing in place for at least 4 hours to prevent contact with infection and allow the needle hole to close completely.
- 💧 Washing your face and applying makeup. On the first night, you can wash your face as usual, but refrain from applying creams and skincare products for one night. The next morning, you can apply makeup and creams as normal.
- 💊 Numbing and pain relief medication The anesthetic will wear off within 3 hours. If you experience pain, you can take paracetamol. Avoid NSAIDs as they may increase bruising.
- 🛏️ Sleep with a high pillow for the first 3-5 nights. Keeping the head elevated above the heart reduces fluid buildup in the face and helps the anesthetic roll over faster.
Food, drinks, and things to avoid.
- 🚫 Avoid vitamins, alcohol, and fermented foods. All vitamins, alcohol, fermented foods, and pickled products should be avoided for at least two weeks before and after the procedure, as these may increase the risk of bruising, inflammation, or infection.
- 🦐 Seafood Consume only cooked food. Avoid all raw or undercooked seafood to reduce the risk of post-procedure inflammation.
- 💧 Drink 2–3 liters of water per day. Hyaluronic acid in fillers has the property of drawing water into the skin. Drinking enough water will help the filler stay full and last longer.
Precautions regarding heat and contact with the face.
- 💨 Hair drying It is recommended to blow-dry your hair from the back, or use cool air instead of hot air, to prevent direct heat exposure to the area where you've sprayed your hair. Also, avoid washing your face with warm water for at least two weeks.
- 🌡️ Avoid all forms of heat. Avoid saunas, facial massages, and all heat-related procedures on the face for at least one month after the procedure, as heat may cause the filler to break down faster than usual and increase swelling.
Things you should absolutely not do in the area where filler has been injected.
- 🚫 Avoid pressing, massaging, kneading, and shaping the skin yourself. Touching or pressing on the injection site may cause the filler to shift from its intended position, resulting in a change in shape and undesirable results.
- ⏳ Swelling is normal. Swelling after the procedure will gradually subside on its own within 2 weeks. There's no need to worry; just follow the care instructions consistently.
- ✨ Fillers are absorbed into the skin. During the first 4 weeks, the filler will gradually be absorbed into the skin layers and adapt to the facial structure, resulting in the most natural shape.
Signs that indicate you should return to see your doctor.
Although fillers are generally a safe procedure and most side effects resolve on their own, you should contact your doctor immediately if you notice any of these signs.
- 🔴 Abnormal swelling If the swelling doesn't subside within 5–7 days, or continues to worsen.
- 🔴 Severe pain The injection site, especially if symptoms worsen instead of improving.
- 🔴 Skin discoloration An unusual white, dark red, or purplish bruise could be a sign of a blood clot.
- 🔴 High fever Or do you experience chills after the procedure?
- 🔴 Feeling numb or losing sensation. Abnormalities in the facial area.
- 🔴 There is a hard lump. That did not subside after several weeks.
Proper post-procedure self-care is key to achieving the best and longest-lasting results. If you experience any unusual symptoms after the procedure, don't worry. Your doctor will conduct a thorough check-up at your follow-up appointment for your peace of mind. "Trust in the quality and results. Trust in our service. Trust in us, Mudan Pavilion."
